On top of the great skiing the area is well known for, you’ll also find winter hiking, snowshoeing, ATV side-by-side rides, and much more. Make the most of winter at Tremblant resort

Tremblant Resort is, without a doubt, one of the premier activity hubs in the Laurentians. Even if you’ve stayed at the resort before, you may be surprised by just how much there is to do at Tremblant in winter!

Enjoy some of Eastern Canada’s best skiing and snowboarding

With 102 runs from green to double black diamond surrounding the 875-metre (2871-foot) summit of Mont-Tremblant, including a vertical drop of 645 meters (2,116 feet) on the south side of the mountain, downhill skiing and snowboarding at Tremblant Resort is a given.

Since Tremblant is one of the top ski destinations in Eastern Canada, the resort is well set up for skiers and snowboarders with any level of experience. If you’re new to skiing and snowboarding or could use a refresher, you can book some time with the Tremblant Snow School and practice on the bunny hill before you hit the slopes. Equipment rentals are available on site, and there are plenty of accommodations that offer ski-in/ski-out, from luxury hotels to private chalets.

If you don’t ski or snowboard, it’s still worth buying a gondola pass and taking a ride to the top of the mountain. On a clear day, the views of the surrounding region are breathtaking. And even if it’s a cloudy day, you’ll still be amazed at how different the weather can be at the top of the mountain! Grab a snack or a drink, adult or not, at Le Grand Manitou at the summit to take in the fantastic views.

Sign up for something new at the Tremblant Activity Centre

If you’re staying at Tremblant Resort and want to immerse yourself in winter in Quebec, visit the Tremblant Activity Centre. This is the resort’s hub for booking off-resort activities like dogsledding, helicopter rides, ice fishing, ice climbing, and much more!

For our off-resort activity, we drove through the beautiful Laurentians scenery for 30 minutes to the village of Labelle for a guided ATV tour. After a quick briefing, we spent nearly an hour and half ripping through the region’s Club Iroquois off-road trail system in a Kawasaki Teryx 800cc. Each side-by-side ATV is equipped with four seats including three-point seatbelts, plus a roll cage and enclosed cabin with helmets provided. This is a safe and super fun activity for couples, families, or groups of friends.

Experience the romance of skating in front of the Saint-Bernard Chapel

From mid-December to mid-March, you’ll find an ice skating rink set up just beside the Saint-Bernard Chapel at Tremblant Resort. It’s open from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. The evenings are an especially fun time to visit with lights, glimmering ice sculptures, music, and a roaring fire. Skate rentals are available right beside the rink and are free of charge for Tremblant guests.

Eat, play, shop and explore in the Tremblant pedestrian village

Tremblant Resort is known for its slopes, but it’s equally renowned for its shopping and nightlife. Take a stroll through the many shops, cafés, and restaurants that line the pedestrian village.

The cabriolet offers a fast and free way to travel between the top and the bottom of the village. Don’t miss the Mountain Sugar Shack near the base of the cabriolet, where you can pick up Quebec maple syrup products and enjoy some freshly poured maple taffy.

Tremblant’s pedestrian village is packed with great restaurants. Among our favourites are Restaurant La Forge, with its upscale rustic atmosphere inside and fireside ski-lift inspired seating outside, and Bullseye Saloon for casual traditional pub fare. And no visit to Tremblant is complete without a meal at Restaurant La Savoie, a French Alps inspired raclette and fondue house that’s truly a special treat!

Where to stay at Tremblant Resort in winter

Tremblant resort makes a wonderful home base for exploring the many things to do in Mont-Tremblant region. It offers a wide variety of accommodation types, from chalets and condo-style apartments to luxury hotels right in the pedestrian village.

Our most recent stay was at Hôtel Sommet des Neiges, and it’s one of the best Tremblant properties we’ve enjoyed so far. Our one-bedroom suite was equipped with a kitchenette, living space with a fireplace and balcony, a shower and a soaker tub, and one of the most comfortable hotel beds we’ve ever slept in. Sommet des Neiges also offers ski lockers and direct ski-in/ski-out access right next to the main gondola.

We’ve previously enjoyed excellent stays at the Westin Tremblant, which is also near the gondola with ski-in/ski-out access, and L’Ermitage du Lac near Saint-Bernard Chapel and the skating rink at the bottom of the village.

Explore the surrounding peaks of Mont-Tremblant region

The Mont-Tremblant region of the Laurentians spans nearly 235 kilometres of rolling hills, snow-covered peaks, and flowing waterways. With so much natural space to explore, it’s truly Quebec’s winter playground! Here’s a look at some of the best things to do in Mont-Tremblant region.

Hike or cross-country ski at Parc national du Mont-Tremblant

Established in 1981, Parc national du Mont-Tremblant is the oldest of Quebec’s SEPAQ parks. The protected area spans more than 1,500 square kilometres and includes 18 named peaks, 6 rivers, and 400 lakes.

Parc national du Mont-Tremblant is open year-round. In winter, it’s a popular destination for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter hiking. Day use or multi-night stays are available, including overnight excursions to backcountry chalets. The visitor centre offers a beautiful wood-burning fire along with a souvenir shop, canteen, restrooms, and 24-hour emergency services.

We greatly enjoyed our guided snowshoe hike with d-tour Tremblant. Our guide Mimi brought our equipment and helped us select a trail based on our skill and energy levels. We enjoyed several hours of hiking and bird-watching through the beautiful Laurentian forest, then fueled up with a hot fireside lunch provided by Mimi at the visitor centre. It was a wonderful way to enjoy a morning in nature.

Take in après-ski or a rustic cabin stay at Farouche

Whether you head here from the slopes or following a challenging hike in the park, do as the locals do and head for a warming après-ski at Farouche Tremblant. Located just outside the Diable sector gates of Parc national du Mont-Tremblant, Farouche is a Nordic farm that’s open year round serving food and drink with a heavy focus on local and home-grown products. Enjoy a local beverage or a warming meal in their dining room, which has a face-on view of the north side of Mont-Tremblant.

Farouche also offers accommodation in its A-frame rustic cabins, including on-site detached washrooms. Cabin guests have exclusive access to the elevated hot tub and its spectacular views, which is bookable in private sessions.

See some of the region’s best views at Sentier des cimes Laurentides

Not only does Sentier des cimes Laurentides offer some of the very best views anywhere in the Laurentians, but it’s also completely accessible to everyone!

This tourist attraction has an interesting history. The site was once a fishery that bred stock to repopulate lakes in Quebec and Eastern Ontario. It was also a social hub for the area known today as Mont-Blanc. When the fishery closed in 1996, the municipality found the historic site challenging to maintain and it began to fall into disrepair.

Eventually, the site caught the attention of a German company called Erlebnis Akademie AG (EAK), which owns scenic towers throughout Europe. EAK purchased it from the municipality, restored the historic buildings, and built the boardwalk and tower here as a tourist attraction. The site opened in its current form in 2022.

Today, visitors of all abilities can take the roughly three-kilometre journey along the boardwalk and up the spiraled 40-metre tower. At the top, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Mont-Blanc and the surrounding Laurentians. On a clear day, you may even catch a glimpse of Mont-Tremblant in the distance. Special events occur throughout the year such as stargazing nights, concerts, and acrobatic displays. And set aside some time to linger at the bird feeders along the boardwalk to watch local birds and squirrels flit among the treetops.

Whether you’re a life-long skier or a winter novice, you’ll find there’s plenty to explore and enjoy in the Laurentians!
