In Mont-Tremblant in fall, the trees explode with colour

The forests in the Laurentians are made up of the perfect mix of trees to turn autumn into an explosion of colour!

Mont-Tremblant is one of the tallest peaks in the Laurentians. If you time your visit right, you can ride the gondola at Tremblant Resort to the summit, climb the observation tower, and be surrounded by 360 degrees of stunning and vibrant fall foliage straight out of a painting. (In fact, these vistas are so impressive that we stumbled upon an inspired artist at work during our visit!)

Warm-weather activities are the best things to do in Mont-Tremblant in fall

Tremblant Resort is a hive of activity during the summer months. While some of the water-based activities like the beach and swim facilities close in early September, many more of the activities at Tremblant Resort stay open until Thanksgiving weekend or even longer.

We tried the luge, summer skiing, kayaking, and hiking during our visit. There’s also ziplining, rock climbing, ATV tours, horseback riding, and more. It’s a genuine pleasure to enjoy these activities with the cooler autumn temperatures.

Experience a spectacular light show at Tonga Lumina

Tonga Lumina at Tremblant Resort is a dazzling after-dark experience. It’s part hiking trail, part light show, and part fantastical storytelling about the creatures that surround us in the forest.

From the chair lift ride that provides a dramatic entrance to the interactive props that encourage you to make the forest tremble, Tonga Lumina is unique and immersive. Autumn is a great time to visit Tonga Lumina, especially with kids. It gets dark earlier in late September and October, which means younger children can enjoy the trail with you before bedtime.

Circuit Mont-Tremblant is a professional-grade racetrack located less than 10 minutes from Tremblant Resort. Each September, the track’s Fall Classic regional race weekend fills the air with the sounds of roaring race cars.

Tickets to the Fall Classic at Circuit Mont-Tremblant are very affordable. Since the daytime temperatures are cooler in September and the track follows local noise ordinances that keep the cars at a reasonable volume, this event is wonderful for families and car-crazy kids of all ages.

Enjoy more availability at local restaurants

Tremblant Resort is still busy enough in autumn that restaurant reservations are recommended, but you’ll find you have more selection and flexibility at the most high-demand locations than at other times of year.

Grab a bite and a beer on the large patio at Microbrasserie la Diable, Tremblant’s only microbrewery. Enjoy fondue of all kinds, from cheese to chocolate and more, at Restaurant La Savoie. Grab a sweet treat for any season

Autumn in Quebec can throw all four seasons at you, sometimes in one day. But with the variety of dessert options at Tremblant Resort, you’ll never need to go without a sweet treat.

Feeling a little warm in the afternoon? Grab some ice cream. Catching a bit of a chill in the evening? Pick up a hot chocolate at Chocolato‘s impressive hot chocolate bar. And you won’t need to wait for winter to enjoy some maple taffy. Visit the sugar shack at the bottom of the free cabriolet in the pedestrian village, and you’ll find a barrel full of snow waiting for your order!

Take advantage of off-peak pricing at Tremblant hotels

From hotels to chalets and condo-style suites, Tremblant has a variety of accommodations to choose from. And in the fall, you might find your favourite is available at a reduced rate. Keep an eye on social media: some properties offer lodging discounts of up to 20% when you visit Mont-Tremblant in the fall.

Our stay at in a one-bedroom suite at L’Ermitage du Lac positioned us perfectly at the base of the village, a stone’s throw from all the action, with a view overlooking a beautiful pond amid a tree-lined setting. We’ve also enjoyed excellent stays at Tremblant Resort at the Westin Tremblant and the Hôtel Sommet des Neiges.

Enjoy a pleasant and scenic drive home

Wishing Tremblant a fond farewell and heading home is much easier when you can enjoy even more fall colours along the way.

If your return trip will take you to the west, the drive to Autoroute 50 and through Ottawa is all reds and yellows and rolling hills. You can extend this even further by taking the long way home through Ontario via Highway 41, Highway 7, the Thousand Islands Parkway via the 401 or — if you’ve got plenty of time — Highway 60 toward Algonquin Provincial Park.

If heading home takes you toward Montreal or points east, you’ll continue to enjoy fall colours as you travel through the Laurentians. No matter which way your travels take you, if you enjoyed autumn vistas during your stay at Mont-Tremblant, you’re likely to see more of them for much of your journey home.
