Meet the family behind Happy Adventure Inn and Tours
Happy Adventure Inn and Tours is truly a family affair. The inn is operated by the family’s younger generation, Shar-lett and James. Shar-lett is in charge of the kitchen, and James is the gracious host who welcomes guests at the front desk. Shar-lett’s father Chuck now runs the tours side of the business, and her mother Brenda contributes the stunning artwork that lines the walls of the inn’s hallways.
Happy Adventure Tours has a fit for every adventurer
Happy Adventure Tours offers kayaking tours, whale watching boat tours, and transfer services. Excursions start from the village of Happy Adventure, the town of Salvage, or in Terra Nova National Park. Want to hike the 15-kilometre Coastal Ridge Trail and then get a lift back to the hotel? Hoping to see some whales, puffins, and jellyfish while you’re in Newfoundland? Happy Adventure Tours can take care of that and more.
Happy Adventure Tours organizes kayaking tours out of Salvage Harbour and from the visitor centre at Terra Nova National Park. Both tours are excellent, but if you only have time for one, go for the latter. Kayaking is a memorable way to explore the fascinating bird and sea life in Newman Sound. As interest in the Eastport Peninsula continues to grow, Chuck and his team are working to expand their offerings out of the Salvaje Longhouse at Salvage Harbour. Their plans here include accommodations, a restaurant and microbrewery, a coffee shop, and more. The Eastport Peninsula is truly a one-stop shop for outdoor adventure.
Enjoy a luxurious stay at the Happy Adventure Inn
After a busy day of exploring, you’ll be delighted to rest your head at the Happy Adventure Inn. Shar-lett and James have curated a beautiful property full of premium touches. Each of the five guest rooms has an ensuite bath with a walk-in shower, an in-room Nespresso coffee maker, plush linens, and opulent finishings. Four of the five rooms have balconies with sunset views over the harbour, and the two corner suites have two-person soaker tubs.
James will greet you with a smile, learn your name, and anticipate your needs as best he can while Shar-lett manages the kitchen. In the afternoons and evenings, it operates as Chucky’s Seafood and Wild Game Restaurant and is the most coveted reservation on the peninsula. If you order seafood, you may very well be able to see the boat it was caught from while dining with views of the harbour. In the mornings, breakfast for two is included with every overnight stay and is made to order.

From bays to beaches, pond swims to pony rides, and far-flung hikes to frozen treats, Newfoundland’s Eastport Peninsula is a magical summer destination.
